Common use of LEAVE OF ABSENCE - BEREAVEMENT Clause in Contracts

LEAVE OF ABSENCE - BEREAVEMENT. Should a bereavement occur in the immediate family of an employee, with twelve (12) or more months of seniority, the employee will be provided up to three (3) consecutive days off with pay to attend the funeral if scheduled to work. Immediate family shall be defined in Article 22 of the main body of the Collective Agreement. Such an employee who is scheduled to work in excess of twenty four (24) hours in the week in which the bereavement occurs shall be entitled to bereavement leave with pay as set out in Article 22 of the main body of this Collective Agreement.
