Common use of Leave of Absence for Full-time Association Representative Clause in Contracts

Leave of Absence for Full-time Association Representative. (a) An employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Association, shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for a period of one (1) year. Such leave shall be renewed for a maximum of one (1) year upon request during his/her term of office. Leave under this Clause shall only be provided if a suitable employee, as assessed by the Employer, is available. (b) During the period of such leave of absence, provided the insurance and pension plans permit, the employee shall be permitted to participate in these plans at no cost to the Employer. (c) During this period of leave of absence, the employee shall retain all accrued benefits but shall not earn any benefits during such leave.
