Leave of Absence Right of Return. (i) When an employee returns to work after an approved leave of absence for reasons other than adoption, pregnancy or parental: • of up to three (3) months, they will be returned to their former position; • between four (4) months and twelve (12) months, if their position is not available, they will be placed in a position in a comparable salary grade; • in excess of twelve (12) months, they will be returned to employment. (ii) When an employee returns to work after a leave of absence due to illness or injury up to twelve (12) months they will be placed in their former position. If the former position no longer exists, the employee will be placed in a position in a comparable salary grade. For leaves in excess of twelve (12) months they will be returned to employment.
