ARTICLE LEAVE OF ABSENCE. The Employer, may, in its discretion, grant a leave of absence with or without pay to any employee for education personal reasons. Request for leave of absence shall be in writing and submitted to his supervisor who will forward the same to the designated Human Resources representative for approval. An employeeshall not be required to use his accumulated vacation before requesting a leave of absence for non-vacation purposes. The Employer shall grant leaves of absence without pay to up to four (4) employees to attend Union conventions or seminars, provided that: such leave does not unduly interfere with the operation requirements of the Employer; the total leave of absence granted hereunder shall not exceed twenty-five working days per year of the agreement; not more than one (1) employee from any program unit may receive leave hereunder at any one time and; the Union gives fourteen (14) clear notice of such leave to the Employer. Leave of absence due to pregnancy and/or parental leave shall be granted in accordance with the requirements of the Standards Act of Ontario If an employee who has completed his probationary period is required to serve as a juror, he shall not lose his regular pay because of such attendance provided he notifies his supervisor immediately upon notification that he will be required to serve as a juror, presents proof of service and promptly pays to the Employer any amounts paid to him for such service. Employees absent from work for any continuous period of fifteen (15) calendar days or more other than a period of vacation leave or paid sick leave shall not earn vacation or sick leave credits during the period of any such absence and anniversary dates shall be adjusted accordingly except as specified in Article In addition, the Employer shall not be required to contribute to the payment of health and welfare benefits during any such absence. Employees who desire to maintain health and welfare benefits through the Employer must arrange payments of premiums for all such benefits and pay all such premiums through the Employer before commencing any absence. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, it is agreed that the Employer shall maintain health and welfare benefits for employees who are off work on Long Term Disability or Workplace Safety and Insurance Board Benefits for a period of up to one (1) year from the date such employee ceased working for the Employer provided the employee pays his portion of the health and welfare benefi...

ARTICLE LEAVE OF ABSENCE. The Director of Administration may grant or refuse a request for a leave of absence without pay for extenuating personal reasons, provided that he receives at least one month's notice in writing, unless impossible, and that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home. Applicants when applying must indicate the date of departure and specify the date of return. If a leave of absence is granted, the employee shall be advised in writing with a copy to the Union. To qualify for leaves of absence as stipulated above the employee must have completed six (6) months of employment with the Employer and it is expressly understood no benefit except as hereinafter provided shall accrue to or be paid to any employee on leave of absence.

ARTICLE LEAVE OF ABSENCE. The Company may grant leave of absence to any employee for legitimate personal reasons and any person who is absent with written permission shall not lose his seniority. In the case of leave to attend Union business, it is understood that normally, not more than two employees will be absent at any one time. ARTICLE LEAVE OF ABSENCE a) Employees may request a leave of absence which shall be presented in writing. The employee will provide five (5) working days notice where possible. Leaves of absence without pay for personal reasons (i.e. other than bona fide sickness or accident) may be granted at the Company’s discretion. The absence from work at any time because of a bona fide sickness or accident shall not constitute a break in service. An employee shall return to his position held prior to the absence, provided is capable of handling the same. The Company will provide notification to the Union. Upon return from a personal leave of absence, the employee shall be returned to the employee’s regular route or run provided the leave has been for no more than twenty (20) working days. If the leave is of duration greater than twenty (20) working days, the employee will be provided with a vacant route or run in accordance to Article but not necessarily the one performed at the time the leave commenced. An employee who is on a personal leave of absence which is less than one (1) year shall continue to accrue seniority during the leave period. Employees taking time off for sickness or for any other reasons shall, when ready to resume driving, let the Company know before noon that they wish to resume driving the following day. After an absence due to sickness, a medical certificate, stating fitness to drive may be requested. Bereavement The Company will grant a three (3) day leave of absence with pay to an employee in the event of the death of a member of immediate family which is deemed to include parent, child, spouse, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren and grandparents. The above leave of absence will be for the purpose of making arrangements and attending the funeral. It will be a maximum of three (3) regular scheduled working days immediately prior to and including the day of the funeral. Additional days off without pay are available with prior notice. Employees opting for only a partial day of leave in the event of the death of any of the above will be paid for the portion of the day not worked. ARTICLE LEAVE OF ABSENCE. (a) The Society may grant a leave-of-absence, with or without pay, upon written request to the Director of Human Resources, and if the leave-of-absence is for good and sufficient reason and does not unreasonably interfere with the efficient operation of the Society. Written requests under (a) above shall normally be at least ten (10) working days in advance. Requests for leaves-of-absence in excess of thirty-nine (39) weeks shall be made at least thirty (30) working days in advance. Leaves-of-absence for educational purposes with or without pay may be granted by the Society to employees who have completed a minimum of one (I) year of continuous service.
