Common use of Leave to Serve in Exempt, Temporary, or Limited Term Position Clause in Contracts

Leave to Serve in Exempt, Temporary, or Limited Term Position. Any permanent bargaining unit member who accepts an assignment within the District to an exempt, temporary, or limited term position shall, during such assignment be considered for status purposes as serving in his or her regular position, and such assignment shall not be considered separation from service. The unit member may, with approval of the appointing authority, voluntarily return to his or her position or a position in a classification of his or her permanent status prior to the completion of service in an exempt, temporary, or limited term position. Failure to complete the required service, unless approved as specified herein, will constitute abandonment of position and may be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
