Common use of Line of Duty Death Clause in Contracts

Line of Duty Death. If a firefighter is killed in the line of duty, the City shall pay for the actual funeral expenses incurred by the survivors up to a maximum of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00). This payment shall be made to the firefighter’s estate. If a firefighter is killed in the line of duty, the City shall pay the health insurance premium for the twelve (12) months of COBRA coverage for a surviving spouse and eligible dependents of the firefighter enrolled in the city’s health insurance plan at the time of the line of duty death.
