Lunchtime Supervision. Where a teacher is required to undertake lunchtime supervision such duty shall be rostered so as to allow for a fair and reasonable meal break.
Lunchtime Supervision. 1. The school lunch period shall be considered the time from when the first class is scheduled to begin lunch until the last lunch period is scheduled to end. A teacher’s duty free lunch period shall be during this time. 2. Classroom Teachers assigned to or volunteering to assist with lunchtime duty during the Classroom Teacher’s 30 minute duty free lunch shall be paid on a pro rata basis for the minutes worked during the 30 minute duty free period according to Appendix C. Speech Therapists will not be assigned lunchtime supervision. 3. If possible, no elementary Teacher shall be assigned lunchtime duty on a day when the Teacher does not have at least one (1) planning period within the student day; nor will a Teacher on the rotation schedule be assigned lunchtime duty more than twice a week unless the principal needs to assign the Teacher in order to provide adequate lunchtime supervision. 4. The duty free lunch does not apply when supervision is necessary during field days or field trips. 5. Secondary Teachers assigned cafeteria supervision beyond their full load shall be paid according to Appendix C.

(b) If no in-district volunteers are available, the assignment may be offered to a certified person not employed by the District. (c) If no volunteers are available, the duty may be involuntarily assigned to teachers in the school where the vacancy exists. Involuntary assignments shall be limited to one half hour for each of two teachers per day and shall be rotated among the school's teaching staff. 4. Compensation for lunch time supervisor's duty is in recognition of the loss of lunchtime and/or duty free preparation time.
Lunchtime Supervision. Each Teacher, except in case of emergency, shall have a maximum of twenty-nine twenty minute lunch time supervisions per year. No Teacher teaching four classes in a specific day shall be assigned lunch supervision on that day. Supervision shall be allocated in a reasonable, equitable and fair manner among all Teachers. No Teacher shall be required to administer or perform any medical or physical procedure for which he/she has not been trained. This provision shall not detract from the overriding responsibility of all Teachers to ensure the health and safety of all students under the Board’s care. The Board shall provide adequate insurance against any liability for claims which may arise from the administration of medication or first aid. In the event of weather conditions which make travel hazardous, a Teacher will make an honest attempt to reach his/her failing which he/she will attempt to reach another If unable to do so, the Teacher will report this fact to the Principal or the Superintendent, and the day shall be granted as leave without loss of pay or deduction of sick leave credits.
