Management Development Policy. Employees are authorized to attend professional training programs, seminars, and workshops, during normal work hours at the discretion of their Department Head, for the purpose of developing knowledge, skills, and abilities in the areas of supervision, management, and County policies and procedures. Up to thirty (30) hours of such training time is recommended annually. A. Departments are encouraged to provide for professional development training exceeding thirty (30) hours annually for people newly promoted to positions of direct supervision. B. To encourage personal and professional growth, the County provides reimbursement for certain expenses incurred by employees for job-related training (required training and career development training/education). Provision for eligibility and reimbursement is identified in Administrative Bulletin 112.9. C. The Department Head is responsible for authorization of individual professional development reimbursement requests. Reimbursement is through the regular demand process with demands being accompanied by proof of payment (copy of invoice or canceled check).
