Maternity Leave and Child Adoption Leave. a. Pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy and recovery therefrom and any temporary disability resulting therefrom shall be treated as any other temporary disability for all job-related purposes under the provisions of sick leave. Immediately following the birth of his/her baby, a teacher will have the option of taking six (6) weeks of maternity leave of absence or up to a maximum of twelve (12) weeks of Family Medical Leave under the provisions and subject to the requirements of the Family Medical Leave Act. FMLA leave will be concurrent with any maternity leave.
