Common use of New Classes Clause in Contracts

New Classes. (a) If the Employer proposes to establish a new class or revise an existing class, it shall give notice of such intention to the Union, and shall complete a questionnaire to be forwarded to the Maintenance Committee for evaluation and placement in the appropriate pay band. Upon request, the Human Resources Division will provide a copy of the questionnaire to the Union. (b) The establishment of the final rate of pay shall be retroactive to the date of the filling of the vacancy. It is understood between the parties that the Arbitrator shall deal with existing classes only, except when a new class has been proposed by the Employer.
