No Discrimination due to Disability. Sickness or disability resulting from an accident suffered or incurred while engaged in the carrying out of the employee’s duties shall not constitute a ground for discharge of any employee, provided that it is possible for such employee, in the opinion of the Medical Officer of the Corporation, to, upon recovery, carry on duties in the fire service of the Corporation and if the said Medical Officer is of the opinion that the employee is physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of such position, such employee shall continue in the position held prior to such sickness or accident. It is understood that the Director of Human Resources will require the opinion of the Medical Officer of the Corporation, only if the information provided by the employee’s physician is not satisfactory to the Corporation.
