Common use of Notification of Job Classification Changes Clause in Contracts

Notification of Job Classification Changes. The City shall notify the Union and provide a copy of any proposed changes in the duty statement for existing classifications represented by the Union as far in advance as possible but not less than ten (10) working days prior to consideration by the Civil Service Commission. The parties shall meet and confer in accordance with provisions of the Government Code regarding the impact of the proposed changes in the duty statements and attempt to reach agreement prior to consideration by the Civil Service Commission. In the event agreement is not reached, either party may address the Civil Service Commission on the matter. Per Government Code section 3505, meet and confer in good faith means that a public agency, or such representatives as it may designate, and representatives of recognized employee organizations, shall have the mutual obligation personally to meet and confer promptly upon request by either party and continue for a reasonable period of time in order to exchange freely information, opinions, and proposals, and to endeavor to reach agreement on matters within the scope of representation.
