OTHER BENEFITS INCLUDED IN THE CITY'S INCOME PROTECTION PLAN. Separate from the Long-Term Disability Plan, the City will be continuing medical insurance coverage for disabled employees who qualify for Long-Term Disability Benefits, and will also pay a $2,500 death benefit in lieu of the City of Detroit Death Benefit Plan to employees qualified for Long-Term Disability Benefits. The medical insurance and death benefit are payable without the elimination period required of the Long-Term Disability Plan. Since these two benefits are available sooner than nine (9) months, it is doubly important that employees file for Long-Term Disability Benefits prior to 60 days after becoming disabled.

  • Extended Health Benefit Plan (a) All regular and probationary employees after three (3) months employment will be covered by a one hundred percent (100%) Extended Health Benefit Plan with the standard $100.00 deductible. The City will pay eighty percent (80%) of the costs and the twenty percent (20%) deduction for employees shall be made through payroll deductions. The extended health lifetime maximum will be $1,000,000.
