Overtime and Extra Trip Assignments - Transportation Department. 29 1. The Director of Transportation or management designee shall maintain a seniority-based 30 overtime list of department employees who are not bus drivers. Overtime work shall be 31 assigned to employees on this list on a rotational basis. 33 2. Extra trip assignments for bus drivers shall be made in the following manner: 35 a. All drivers shall be placed on the field trip rotation each year. With the exception of Floater 36 Bus Drivers, there will be the ability for drivers to “opt-out” of all field trips by signing the 37 “Field Trip Opt-Out” sign up list. This list will be made available to all drivers by May 15th 38 for the following school year, and drivers must sign the “Field Trip Opt-Out” list by the first 39 bid date of the school year. If there are not enough drivers remaining on the field trip rotation 40 list each year, the “Field Trip Opt-Out” list becomes void and the Department will assign 41 trips by reverse seniority order. 43 b. In addition to the regular field trip rotation list, the department will establish a “Specialty” 44 extra trip assignment list for those who wish to participate in specialty trips. Drivers must 45 sign this list by the first bid date of the school year. Drivers on this list must meet the 46 following criteria: 47 i. Driver must become and remain proficient in mountain and city driver training; 48 ii. No unexcused or excessive absences; and 49 iii. No reports of misconduct or behavior unbecoming of an employee. 51 c. The Director of Transportation or management designee shall maintain lists of bus drivers 52 by hire date seniority order. 54 d. At the beginning of each school year all extra trip assignments shall be made in seniority 55 order until each driver has been assigned a trip. 57 e. After all drivers have received an initial assignment, all extra trips will be assigned by the 58 Director of Transportation or management designee based upon the accumulated extra trip 59 hours logged by each driver and posted on the hourly extra trip chart. For each extra trip 60 assignment, the Director of Transportation or management designee shall, to the best of 61 his/her ability, assign the trip to the driver with the least number of accumulated extra trip 62 hours with the exception of Bus Drivers contracted to work in additional district position(s).
