Overtime Guidelines. a. These overtime guidelines do not apply to the continuation of regular workday assignment needs, emergency overtime needs, and occupational/classification specific needs. b. Every effort will be made to be fair in assigning scheduled overtime on a rotational basis, while at the same time addressing the skills, work site and workload needs relevant to the overtime assignment. c. If no one on a “high school or middle school site” rotation list accepts the overtime assignment offer, then the offer will be made to the partnering/regional high school and middle school rotation list. d. Overtime duties resulting from emergent situations or unscheduled/unanticipated needs shall not be addressed through a rotation schedule. e. Each Department Manager will survey staff and develop a scheduled overtime rotation list including those employees who would like to participate in scheduled overtime. The rotation lists will be based upon their District longevity date. Each site will have rotation lists based upon job classification. Every effort will be made to fill overtime assignments with the appropriate classification and skill set. Custodial Site Supervisors shall be part of the scheduled overtime rotation list. f. If an employee on the scheduled overtime rotation list declines or accepts an offer of overtime, then that employee will not be offered additional overtime assignments until everyone else on the rotation list has been offered an overtime assignment. g. If an employee is on (A.) an unscheduled evaluation plan and/or (B.) a performance improvement work plan, then that employee shall not be offered scheduled overtime. h. An employee who has been disciplined in writing for engaging in misconduct shall be suspended from receiving overtime opportunities, for a period not to exceed one year from the date of the disciplinary documentation. The length of the suspension will be at management’s discretion and based upon the severity of the misconduct. i. Scheduled overtime assignments shall be a minimum of two hours. Employees are expected to perform work duties for the entirety of the two hours and shall be paid for the hours and minutes that they are actually performing work duties. j. However, employees who are scheduled to work overtime to open, close and secure outside fields for non-district sponsored groups shall receive a minimum of one hour of overtime to open the event and one hour of overtime to close the event. (For example, if an employee works for twenty minutes to open and secure outside facilities/fields for non-district sponsored groups and then an additional one hour in to lock up and secure the outside facility/fields for non-district sponsored groups, then the employee shall receive two hours of pay.)

The time and one-half off option must occur in the skills, work site and workload needs relevant to pay period in which the overtime assignmentoccurred.
5. Overtime will be offered to employees as follows:
a. For Engineering Services, Patient Escort, and Food and Nutrition Services, within the job title by bargaining unit seniority;
b. For Nursing units, Inpatient Therapy, and Clinical Engineering (Biomedical Services), within the department by bargaining unit seniority.
c. If no one on a “high school For Environmental Services, within the department by bargaining unit seniority rotation.
6. Employees assigned to work eight (8) or middle school site” rotation list accepts the overtime assignment offer, then the offer more hours beyond their scheduled quit time will be made allowed, at their option, to not have to report to work should there not be twelve (12) consecutive hours off before their next scheduled start time. An employee practicing this option is required to notify the appropriate supervisor of his/her intent not to report for his/her next scheduled shift before completing the extra duty. The employee must indicate his/her intent regarding use of ET.
7. All paid hours of vacation, holidays or scheduled earned time as they are used shall be considered as time worked for the purposes of overtime.
8. Overtime hours for all employees in each job title shall be posted monthly on the unit or department and a copy shall be forwarded to the partnering/regional high school and middle school rotation listUnion upon request.
