Paid Benefit Time Applied to Leave. At the employee's option, leave granted under 45 this Section may be paid or unpaid only to the extent that the employee has available 46 any accrued but unused paid benefit time, in accordance with the following procedure:

  • Maternity/Adoption Leave An employee who is pregnant and who has three (3) months or more of continuous service with the Company shall be granted leave of absence under the terms and conditions of the Employment Standards Act except as herein otherwise provided:

  • Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave An Employee who is expecting the birth or adoption of a child shall be entitled to maternity/paternity/adoption leave without pay, provided she presents a medical certificate confirming the probable date of confinement, or in the case of adoption, gives the Employer notice of eligibility. Except in extenuating circumstances, the notice shall be submitted in writing at least twenty-eight (28) days in advance of the leave and shall specify the probable date of commencement and the anticipated length of leave. The following conditions shall apply:

  • Same Sex Benefit Coverage An employee who co-habits with a person of the same sex, and who promotes such person as a "spouse" (partner), and who has done so for a period of not less than twelve (12) months, will be eligible to have the person covered as a spouse for purposes of Medical, Extended Health, and Dental benefits.

Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above specified or substitute holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation of one additional day's pay at time and one-half the usual rate in the amount of 12 hours pay for eight hours worked or a proportionate amount for less than eight hours worked, provided, however, that at the employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime pursuant to the provisions herein. 103. Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of one-and-one-half times for work on the holiday.
