Parental Leave for the Birth Mother. A birth mother who takes maternity leave is entitled to thirty-five (35) consecutive weeks of parental leave without pay, from the University. A birth mother who does not take maternity leave is entitled to thirty-seven (37) consecutive weeks of parental leave without pay, from the University beginning after the child’s birth and within fifty-two (52) weeks after that event. Further parental leave without pay, of up to five (5) additional weeks, will be granted where the child is certified by a medical practitioner to be suffering from a physical, psychological or emotional condition. Parental leave must begin immediately after the end of the maternity leave taken under Article
