Common use of Payment for Any Required Break-In Clause in Contracts

Payment for Any Required Break-In. ‌ The Employer may, but need not, require break-in procedures of any classification of Deck Officer. Any such break-in procedures may be offered to Deck Officers in the applicable classification; and any Deck Officer undergoing any required break- in procedure shall receive full pay for the time required under all provisions of this Agreement relating to the payment of wages, overtime, travel time, and all other forms of compensation. In addition to the above, all Deck Officers, at their request, with the concurrence of the Port Captain, prior to accepting a pending Deck Officer assignment, shall be entitled to a break-in period not to exceed five (5) days (forty [40] hours), on any vessel on any route and shall receive the straight-time rate of pay for such break in. If the Port Captain does not concur with the request, the Deck Officer may request a review by the Director of Operations.‌
