Payment of arrears. A staff member of a municipality may not be in arrears to the municipality for rates and service charges for a period longer than 3 months, and a municipality may deduct any outstanding amounts from a staff member’s salary after this period.

5.2. If during the course of your tenancy you miss any payments for your rent, service charge, other charges or towards any arrears you must agree to make an arrangement with SARH to pay any outstanding monies owed. If you do not make these payments, SARH may start Court proceedings to end this tenancy.
5.3. If you owe more than one debt SARH can determine which of your debts any payment is applied to, regardless of any instructions from you.
5.4. If you have any rent or other arrears SARH will provide you with information about local services who may be able to offer you advice on budgeting, benefits and managing arrears.
Payment of arrears. Payment of arrears under this Collective Agreement shall be confined to salary, bonus and allowances only. All such arrears shall be effective from 1st January 2012 and shall be payable within sixty (60) days from the date of signing of this Collective Agreement.
