Preference for Shift or Day Positions. The available shift or day positions will be filled by preference of those with the greatest seniority in their classification in a work area. Those exercising their seniority for shift or day positions will remain on the assignment until the next shift bid. If business needs dictate that an individual with lesser seniority be assigned to a particular shift, the Company will discuss and come to agreement with the Union, prior to making the assignment.

If an individual who is currently on shift goes out on any approved leave (with the exception of PL) during the shift bid cycle, they will return when all of the requirements have been met such as the completion of all required training. Management and a Union Representative will determine when the transition from days to shift will take place. If an individual who has access to a quarterly bid opportunity, is on any approved leave (with the exception of PL) during the shift bid cycle, and is unable to return to work prior to the following shift bid, the employee will be ineligible for the current shift bid process, unless a return-to-work date can be determined and agreed upon between Management and the Union Representative.
