Common use of Probation for placement in Clause in Contracts

Probation for placement in. a different position Bargaining unit members who apply and compete for a different position within the bargaining unit will be on probation the longer of their remaining probation period or six (6) additional months following the date of placement. For employees who are promoted, the employee may elect or the City may require that the employee return to their former position. If during the course of the probation the supervisor determines that the employee is not performing adequately in the new position, they will notify the employee in writing and furnish an explanation of the deficient performance and provide a plan for improvement.
