Probationary Bargaining Unit Members. a. New bargaining unit members shall be on probation for a period of one hundred twenty (120) workdays. b. The Board reserves the right to dismiss bargaining unit members during the last half of the probationary period without reason. During the first half of such probationary period, any dismissal shall not be arbitrary or capricious. c. Bargaining unit members who are hired pending the completion of a legally required pre-employment criminal background check shall remain on probationary status at least until such background check has been completed to the extent that is legally required. Failure to meet the requirements of the criminal background check shall result in the immediate termination of employment. d. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the bargaining unit member shall receive an individual one (1) year contract dated from the date of initial employment. All individual contracts will be signed by the Board President, Superintendent, and Treasurer and, among other things, will reference this Contract. Upon completion of the one (1) year contract, if reemployed, only a two (2) year individual contract will be issued. Upon completion of the two (2) year contract, if reemployed, only a continuing individual contract will be issued.
