Common use of PROBATIONARY/PERMANENT STATUS Clause in Contracts

PROBATIONARY/PERMANENT STATUS. Employees newly hired in regular positions shall be considered probationary employees until having satisfactorily completed the designated probationary period of six (6) months. Probationary employees accrue annual and sick leave, but are not permitted to use such leave until forty-five (45) days after their initial hire date. A probationary employee may be dismissed at any time during the probationary period at the discretion of the Superintendent for any cause deemed to be adequate. Probationary employees shall become eligible for group health and life insurance on the first day of the month following completion of the first 30 days of the probationary period. Regular classified employees who have satisfactorily completed the designated probationary period shall become permanent classified employees of the District.
