Common use of Probationary Termination Clause in Contracts

Probationary Termination. At any time during the probationary period, the Employer may terminate the Employee’s employment for general unsuitability by giving one week’s notice, or pay in lieu. An Employee being discharged for culpable cause may be dismissed without such notice or payment in lieu. In either case, the Employee shall be afforded the opportunity of having a union representative in attendance. At time of ratification, Employees fulfilling probationary or trial periods of a shorter or longer duration than stated above shall complete their period pursuant to the terms and conditions of employment governing them when hired, transferred, reclassified or promoted.
