Common use of Professional Activities Clause in Contracts

Professional Activities. 4.1.1 A Unit Member may request the following: 4.1.1.1 attendance at professional conferences and workshops; 4.1.1.2 visitation to classes in other departments or areas, or at other colleges; 4.1.1.3 participation in other professional activities. 4.1.2 Such request shall be submitted to the Immediate Management Supervisor. If recommended by the Immediate Management Supervisor and approved by the President/Xxxxxxx, attendance shall be allowed with no loss of pay. 4.1.3 If the Immediate Management Supervisor does not recommend the request, written reasons shall be given to the Unit Member within five (5) working days of such request. The Unit Member may appeal to the President/Xxxxxxx or designee, who shall respond in writing within five (5) days of appeal. The decision of the President/Xxxxxxx shall be final. 4.1.4 Denial of any request under this section shall not be arbitrary or capricious.
