Professional Improvement Activities. 1. A teacher will be granted at least one (1) day per year for the purpose of visiting other schools, attending conventions and/or meetings or for other educational purposes. Other days will be granted with the Superintendent- Director's approval and denials will be returned with a written explanation. 2. The “Professional Improvement Approval and/or Reimbursement Form” shall be submitted at least fifteen (15) business days prior to the activity start date and shall be processed and returned to the teacher no later than ten (10) business days after receipt except when School Committee approval is required by district policy. (See Appendix D-2) 3. Upon successful completion of an approved activity, the teacher shall submit proof of attendance/participation to the office of the Superintendent-Director. If approved for reimbursement, proof of payment must also be submitted and every effort will be made to process the reimbursement within sixty (60) calendar days of receipt of both documents. 4. It shall be the responsibility of each individual teacher to maintain licensure through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a condition of employment as well as maintain compliance with all Massachusetts educator licensure laws and regulations including any requirements to maintain a current Individual Professional Development Plan on file with the school.
