Progressive Action. The principles of progressive corrective action will be followed with respect to minor infractions, as determined by the Safety Director. The severity of an offense will be taken into account for determining the initial level of discipline. The progression may include a documented oral reprimand, a written reprimand, and a suspension with pay ("working suspension") or without pay, or a reduction in pay for the same or related offenses prior to a reduction in rank or dismissal.
