Promotions, Transfers, Demotions, and Layoffs. 1. Part-time employees will earn seniority at the same rate as full-time regular employees. 2. New hires into part-time positions, with less seniority than full-time employees in lower job classifications, will not be eligible to transfer or promote to a full-time position, or into a like job classification, if an employee in a lower job classification is eligible for promotion, in accordance with Article III, of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. 3. Incumbent full-time employees, transferring into part-time positions, will be promoted, based on their seniority, with other employees in their job classification. 4. Incumbent full-time employees, promoting to part-time positions, will be promoted based on their seniority, with other employees in their previous full-time job classification. 5. In the event it becomes necessary to reduce the number of employees in a job classification due to lack of work, part-time employees will be affected according to their service with the company.
