Common use of PROTECTIVE OVERALLS Clause in Contracts

PROTECTIVE OVERALLS. 243 The City agrees to provide annually four (4) pairs of overalls for employees in classifications covered herein when, in the judgment of the appointing officer, such employees are assigned to duties requiring protective clothing. The cost of overalls and laundry of the same shall be paid by the City. An Appointing Officer and the Union may mutually agree to substitute one additional pair of overalls in lieu of providing laundry services.

As an alternative, in the judgment at an employee's request a department shall pay each employee a clothing allowance of the appointing officer, such employees are assigned to duties requiring protective clothing. The cost of overalls and laundry of the same shall be paid by the City. An Appointing Officer and the Union may mutually agree to substitute one additional pair of overalls in lieu of providing laundry servicesequal value.
