Purchasing Additional Insurance If Funds Are. Insufficient to Cover The Cost of Chosen Benefits Any retiree whose City contribution for retiree medical insurance is insufficient to cover the actual cost of such insurance for the retiree and his/her eligible dependents can purchase such insurance through CalPERS by paying the additional amount in excess of the City contributions, if any.
