Common use of Quarantine, Jury Duty, Witness Duty or Hearings Clause in Contracts

Quarantine, Jury Duty, Witness Duty or Hearings. (a) Absence occasioned by quarantine, jury duty or subpoena as a witness in any proceedings in which the teacher is not the person who commences the action or application shall be granted without loss of pay, benefits or sick leave credits. Service fees as are received by the teacher for jury or witness duty shall be remitted to the Board by the teacher. Notwithstanding the foregoing, absence of a teacher required to attend court proceedings in the event of an accident or other similar incident, not caused by the teacher, may be allowed under this Article, subject to the discretion of the Superintendent of Human Resource Services.
