Jury or Court Witness Duty. The Employer shall grant leave of absence without loss of seniority to an employee who is called as a juror or witness in any court. The Employer shall pay such an employee the difference between the normal earnings and the payment received for jury service or court witness, excluding payment for travelling, meals, or other expenses. The employee will present proof of service and the amount of pay received.

(i) Where a regular employee, regular probationary or auxiliary employee working full-time shifts in excess of three (3) continuous months has been selected to serve as a juror, or ordered to appear as a witness in any court action, he/she shall be granted leave of absence for such purpose.
(ii) Except where the court action is occasioned by such employee's private affairs, the leave of absence shall be with pay, provided that the employee turns over to the District any monies received for such service, other than normal expenses.

The employee will be paid the difference between any jury service fees and their regular rate of pay for those hours spent on jury duty, not exceeding the regular hours the employee normally would work on that day. An employee may be required to provide proof that the employee was called for jury or witness duty and the days on which the employee was required to attend together with evidence of the fees paid for performing such service.
