Common use of Rate of Pay on Promotion Clause in Contracts

Rate of Pay on Promotion. (a) Upon promotion to a higher job classification, an employee's salary rate will be the step in the higher job classification which represents the nearest to eight percent increase in salary from her own job. Progression from step to step in the new job classification will be in accordance with the normal progression for the job classification as outlined in Appendix I and will be calculated from the effective date of the promotion. (b) Where an employee performs a term greater than six months, and then serves another term in the same position with a break of less than three months, then the time worked shall be considered cumulative towards calculation of increment.
