Common use of Rate of Pay on Promotion Clause in Contracts

Rate of Pay on Promotion. If an employee is offered and accepts a job promotion (temporary or permanent), the employee's rate of pay shall be adjusted to the next closest higher step of the new salary band (grid). If the next closest rate of the new salary band (grid) does not represent an overall increase of at least 2.5 %, the incumbent’s rate of pay shall be moved to the next highest step. In the case of an employee who has previously held the same position and moved though the step progression, she shall be placed at the step of the job classification that she had previously attained on the salary band (grid) for that position. This article does not apply to grant positions.
