Recommending Appointments. 16.6.1 The ASC shall recommend to the Xxxx the academic qualifications and the experience required for the position. The assessment shall be made objectively, on sound academic and other relevant grounds. 16.6.6 As part of the interview process each candidate’s itinerary should include a meeting with a representative of the Association. 16.6.7 The Program Chair shall recommend to the Xxxx the name of a single candidate or a rank-ordered short list approved by a majority vote of the ASC (following consultation with the Program together with her/his own recommendation). 16.6.8 When a recommendation for a Limited Term appointment needs to be made for urgent reasons, and a sufficient number of Members is not available to constitute an ASC, the Chair, in consultation with the available Members, may make a recommendation to the Xxxx. 16.6.9 Upon receipt of the recommendation, made pursuant to Article 16.6.7, the Xxxx shall forward his/her own recommendation along with the recommendation of the ASC to the Xxxxxxx who shall forward these recommendations and his/her own recommendation to the President, who shall decide on the appointment.

Normally, the minimum academic qualification for a SLI Senior Laboratory Instructor position shall be a Master’s Masters degree in the specific or a closely related discipline from an accredited university. 16.6.2 16.8.2 After having considered the ASC's recommendation concerning the above, the Xxxx shall authorize a search for a person to fill the allocated position, and the Program Chair shall institute the search in accordance with the terms of this Agreement and University policies and procedures. 16.6.3 16.8.3 All positions shall be advertised in appropriate publications, except in the following circumstances: (a) If, at the expiration of the period of a Member's Term appointment, it becomes necessary to offer a subsequent Term appointment in the Member's Program(s), for which the Member has all the appropriate expertise and competence and provided that the Member's performance is fully satisfactory according to the performance evaluationAnnual Review, no external candidate Candidate shall be appointed to the new term position unless the Member has first been offered and has refused reappointment; or (b) Where a fully qualified candidate Candidate is currently in the employ of the University, or where appointments must be made urgently for sound academic reasons, the Xxxxxxx Vice President (Academic) may waive advertising, with the reasons communicated to the Association. 16.6.4 16.8.4 Applications for positions which have been advertised shall be reviewed by an Appointment Appointments Selection Committee (ASC) which shall make a short list and conduct interviews, if appropriate, as well as consult with recommend to a formal meeting of the Program where appropriateeither the rank-ordered short list or the name of a single candidate for the Appointment. 16.6.5 16.8.5 In assessing candidates, the ASC shall give consideration to the nature of the duties to be performed as advertised, to the character and quality of the degrees held, and to the record of and potential for teaching and other scholarly, creative, or professional work. The assessment shall be made objectively, on sound academic and other relevant grounds. 16.6.6 As part of the interview process each candidate’s itinerary should include a meeting with a representative of the Association. 16.6.7 16.8.6 The Program Chair shall recommend to the Xxxx the name of a single candidate Candidate, or if the Program prefers, a rank-ordered short list list, approved by a majority vote of all Members in the ASC (following consultation with the Program Program, together with her/his own recommendation). 16.6.8 16.8.7 When a recommendation for a Limited Term appointment Appointment needs to be made for urgent reasons, and a sufficient number of Members is not available to constitute an ASC, the Chair, in consultation with the available Members, may make a recommendation to the Xxxx. 16.6.9 16.8.8 Upon receipt of the recommendation, made pursuant to Article 16.6.716.8.6, the Xxxx shall forward his/her own recommendation along with the recommendation of the ASC Program to the Vice President (Academic) and Xxxxxxx who shall forward these recommendations and his/her own recommendation to the President, who shall decide on the appointment.

Recommending Appointments. 16.6.1 The ASC 13.12.1 For Program appointments, the Appointments Selection Committee (ASC), as constituted in Article 12, shall recommend to the Xxxx the academic qualifications and the experience required for the position.
