Service prior to resignation will be included for the purpose of determining the employee’s vacation accrual and salary, but will not be considered for purposes such as: fulfilling in-service time requirements for competing in promotional examinations; computing seniority in promotional examinations; determining order of layoffs; determining the order of bids for assignments and vacations; or determining other priorities among employees. Following reinstatement, an employee will, upon request, have their prior service counted for the purpose of reaching the minimum years of service requirement to be eligible for the Accrued Sick Leave Retirement Plan. However, such years of prior service will only be counted after such employee has accumulated sufficient sick leave credits following reinstatement or re-employment to meet the minimum sick leave accrual requirements. Prior years of service shall not be applied to an employee reinstated or re-employed for the second or subsequent time.
