Rejection Following Promotion. Any employee rejected during the probationary period following a promotional appointment, or at the conclusion of the probationary period by reason of failure of the Fire Chief to file a statement that his services have been satisfactory, shall be reinstated to the position from which he was promoted unless charges are filed and he is discharged in the manner provided in the Personnel Ordinance and these rules for positions in the classified service. If there is no vacancy in the classification from which the employee was promoted, the most recently hired employee shall be terminated without prejudice.
