Standby Compensation Sample Clauses
Standby Compensation. Employees shall be paid the equivalent of one hour's compensation for each normal standby shift, provided such shift is not longer than the employee's normal workday. A normal workday is defined as at least eight (8) hours. Employees shall be paid the equivalent of two (2) hours compensation for each "critical" standby shift. Standby compensation shall be made for only those employees occupying positions designated as Standby in accordance with Section 4.C hereof.
Standby Compensation. (a) Employees who are required by the Employer to standby shall receive standby pay of sixteen dollars and twenty-one cents ($16.21) for each standby period of eight (8) hours or less.
(b) Employees who are required by the Employer to standby on a Holiday as listed in Article 18, shall receive standby pay of thirty two dollars and forty cents ($32.40) for each standby period of eight (8) hours or less.
Standby Compensation. Except as provided in 20.06, employees who are required by the Employer to standby shall receive standby pay for each standby period of eight (8) hours or less in accordance with the following: Regular Rate, Non Holiday $16.21 Holiday Rate $32.40
Standby Compensation. The following standby compensation policies shall apply to all nurses:
1. Nurses scheduled for standby shall be paid the sum of $ 4.70 15.00 for each hour of scheduled standby.
2. Time actually worked on a call-back while on scheduled standby shall be paid for at one and one-half (1-1/2) times the nurse’s regular straight-time hourly rate of pay for a minimum of three (3) hours. Such premium pay rate will begin with the time the nurse actually begins work during the standby period. Such premium rate will apply only where (1) the nurse has first clocked out and then received a call from the nurse’s unit manager or designee asking the nurse to return to work or (2) where the nurse continues his or her scheduled shift for 60 minutes or more. If the nurse continues his or her scheduled shift for 59 minutes or less, the nurse will receive one hour of the premium rate.
Standby Compensation. (a) When an employee is scheduled to be immediately available for standby during a period in which the employee is not on regular duty, he or she shall be paid the amount of one hour straight time pay for each eight hour period or less standing by.
(b) An employee scheduled for standby shall be immediately available for duty during the period of standby at a known telephone number. No standby payment shall be made if an employee is unable to be contacted and to report for duty when required.

Effective October 31, 2023, Employees who are required by the Employer to standby shall receive standby pay of twenty dollars ($20.00) for each standby period of eight (8) hours or less.
(b) Employees who are required by the Employer to standby on a Holiday as listed in Article 18, shall receive standby pay of thirty two dollars and forty cents ($32.40) for each standby period of eight (8) hours or less. Effective October 31, 2023, Employees who are required by the Employer to standby on a Holiday as listed in Article 18, shall receive standby pay of forty dollars ($40.00) for each standby period of eight (8) hours or less.
Standby Compensation. (a) Employees who are required by the Employer to standby shall receive standby pay of thirteen dollars and fifty cents ($13.50) for each standby period of eight (8) hours or less. Effective October 31, 2014 this amount shall increase to sixteen dollars and twenty-one cents ($16.21).
(b) Employees who are required by the Employer to standby on a Holiday as listed in Article 18, shall receive standby pay of twenty-seven dollars ($27.00) for each standby period of eight (8) hours or less. Effective October 31, 2014 this amount shall increase to thirty-two dollars and forty cents ($32.40).
Standby Compensation a) Standby duty requires the employee to return a call or page as soon as practicable but not to exceed ten (10) minutes.
b) Employees assigned to standby duty shall: (1) leave a telephone number where they can be reached or wear a communicating device; and (2) after being told to report to work, the employee shall arrive at the work site no later than the time it takes to commute between the employee’s home and the work site; and (3) refrain from activities which might impair their ability to perform assigned duties. Employees can also be given a designated time to report by the Fire Chief or designee.
c) Standby duty shall be compensated at minimum wage as provided by the California Industrial Welfare Commission for each hour of standby duty or portion thereof. Standby hours under this Article shall count as hours for overtime purposes. Examples of application of this provision for computing overtime: Employee earning $10.00 per hour works 40 hours in a work period, plus 20 hours of standby. 40 hours x $10.00 (base salary rate)1 = $400.00 20 hours x $ 8.00 (minimum wage*) = $160.00 $560.00 divided by 60 hours worked (regular rate of pay)2 = $ 9.33 $9.33 x 1-1/2 (overtime rate) = $13.96 Pay for this week would be: 40 hours x $ 9.33 (regular rate of pay) = $373.20 20 hours x $13.96 (overtime rate) = $279.20 TOTAL PAY = $652.40 1Base salary rate is defined in article on Salary Adjustment. 2Regular rate of pay is defined within the requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act to include all remuneration for employment paid to the employee. When more than one rate of pay is paid for hours worked, the regular rate of pay is calculated using the weighted average of the rates of pay. *This is an example only and may not contain the current State minimum wage.
d) The employee shall not receive standby compensation once the employee begins work.
Standby Compensation. The employee shall receive one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) per hour as standby compensation for those hours the employee is assigned to standby duty and required to carry a County device (or as mutually agreed upon by the County and employee to be contracted by personal phone in lieu of carrying the County device) and make himself available during non-working hours as described above.
