Common use of Reporting Allowances Clause in Contracts

Reporting Allowances. 21.01 An employee who reports for work at the starting time of his scheduled shift, without having been previously notified by phone not to report, will be given at least four (4) hours of work at his regular straight time hourly rate of pay, or, if no work is available, he will be paid the equivalent to four (4) hours at his regular straight time hourly rate of pay in lieu of being required to work. This obligation shall not apply in the following circumstances: a) When the employee has been absent from work and has failed to notify the Company at least the day before of his intention to return to work. b) When the employee fails to keep the Company informed of a telephone number through which a message can be left for the employee. c) When the lack of work is due to power shortage, fire, flood, breakdown, or in circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Company.
