Common use of Reporting Sick Clause in Contracts

Reporting Sick. Employees claiming sick pay benefits shall observe the following procedures: (a) Employees taking ill or suffering an accident during working hours, shall notify their immediate supervisor or designate before leaving their duties. (b) Where the illness or accident takes place at times other than the employee's normal working hours, the employee will notify his immediate supervisor or designate, as soon as possible but in any event, whenever practicable, not less than two (2) hours prior to the day shift and six (6) hours for all other shifts. (c) An employee, in all cases of absence due to illness may be required to produce a medical certificate, satisfactory to the Hotel, and signed by a duly qualified medical practitioner. Such medical certificate must be presented upon returning to work. The Hotel agrees to administer this clause to deal with employees who have a history of excessive absences. (d) When an employee has not been working because of illness, leave of absence of any other reason, it shall be his responsibility to arrange with the Hotel for his or her return to work prior to his or her intended date of return.
