Liability insurance does not protect you against loss or damage to your personal property or belongings, only Personal Property insurance does this. Resident liability insurance does not provide you with protection from personal injury claims against you. Rather, resident liability insurance primarily protects landlords and other residents from damage to their belongings, including the buildings resulting from resident negligence. Resident liability insurance is not flood insurance. For more information regarding insurance, contact the state Department of Insurance.
