Retiring Unit Members. 18.3.1 A unit member covered by this Agreement who retires under the provision of PERS from the District after completing 10 or more years of service to the District at the time of retirement shall receive the same benefit package or contribution equivalent to the prescribed benefit package (on a single, two-party or composite rate as appropriate), that full-time unit members receive under Article 18 for ten years or until the unit member qualifies for Medicare. Those unit members who are eligible for Medicare shall be provided with a Medicare Supplemental Plan H for the number of years that the ten year provision would have cost the District had the unit member received the full ten years of District paid benefits, or until death of the unit member, whichever come first..

Retiring Unit Members. 1. The District agrees to extend a lump sum payment in the amount of 40% of the final year’s salary (schedule and step) to a unit member who retires in their first year of eligibility or first year of eligibility without state penalty, according to New York State Teachers Retirement System (see chart below).
