Return from Sabbatical. 12.5. 9.1 Each employee shall file with the Sabbatical Leave Committee within thirty (30) days after return to duty (October 1 for spring semester or full- year leaves, March 1 for fall leaves), (a) a transcript of work taken and grades earned; or, (b) a summary of his/her travel together with a statement of the educational benefits derived and any other evidence that he/she has met the objectives stated in the initial application. 12.5. 9.2 An employee shall not be considered as having completed the requirements of sabbatical leave until the report has been approved by the committee and approved by the Chancellor and the Board. Failure to meet the requirements as approved by the Board may result in such Board action as is necessary to protect the interests of the District, including monetary sanctions. 12.5. 9.3 The employee shall, unless he/she otherwise agrees, be reinstated in the position held at the time of granting of the sabbatical. 12.5. 9.4 Employees granted a sabbatical leave are required to enter into a written agreement with the Board guaranteeing full-time service to the District for the equivalent of twice the period of the leave. 12.5. 9.5 Both the Board and District shall be free from any liability for the payment of any compensation of damages provided by law for the death or injury of any employee of the District when the death or injury occurs while the employee is on any sabbatical leave. 12.5. 9.6 District will forgive sabbatical leave service obligation if the faculty member dies while serving his/her sabbatical leave or prior to repaying service obligation to the District.

Return from Sabbatical. A teacher returning from sabbatical leave shall return to the school to which the teacher was assigned, or would have been assigned had the teacher not been on sabbatical leave. In the case of a teacher who is away there must be a good faith effort by the principal at consultation prior to any personnel decision affecting the teacher’s position to which he/she would normally return.
Return from Sabbatical a. Two (2) months prior to the completion of sabbatical leave, recipients of such leave shall file, with the Human Resources Department, a statement of intent to return to the District. The return to the District from sabbatical leave shall always coincide with the beginning of the semester. The position previously occupied by a member on sabbatical leave shall be considered a temporary position, if needed, for the duration of the leave, and at the completion of the sabbatical leave, the recipient shall be reinstated in the department or grade level in the school to which he/she was assigned at the time sabbatical leave was granted provided such position exists. b. Each recipient of a sabbatical leave shall file with the Human Resources Department verification that the program of study agreed upon has been completed. This verification must be made as soon as possible after the completion of the program in order for the recipient of the leave to be properly placed on the salary schedule. In any event, the member of the bargaining unit shall have the same rights as if he/she had been on regular assignment in the district during the period of the sabbatical.
Return from Sabbatical. Each Residential Faculty member returning from leave shall file, within sixty (60) days, a written report with the Faculty Professional Growth Committee, the Xxxxxxx, and the College President. An official transcript will serve in lieu of a written report for full-time study programs. The recipient will be required to sign a promissory note for the sabbatical salary, which shall be forgiven at the rate of one (1) semester for each two (2) semesters of contract fulfilled. A short-term sabbatical will be considered a one (1) semester sabbatical for this obligation. If the recipient is unable to fulfill the term of the promissory note due to death or disability, the note shall be void.
Return from Sabbatical. Upon a faculty member’s return from sabbatical leave, the College shall provide the same employment status and conditions as those enjoyed prior to the sabbatical leave, except in the case of program/department restructuring or elimination or reduction in force.

Failure to return to teaching duties shall result in forfeiture of all salary paid during the sabbatical leave.

Return from Sabbatical. Upon return from sabbatical leave, an employee shall present reasonable certification of accomplishment of the purpose for such leave and be placed on the salary schedule at the level which he would have achieved had he remained actively employed in the system during the period of his absence.
Return from Sabbatical. 24.14.1. A Member granted a sabbatical leave is expected to return to normal pre- sabbatical duties for at least the period equivalent to the length of the sabbatical. In exceptional cases the Member may submit a request in writing to the VPAD to waive this requirement. The decision regarding the request is solely at the discretion of the Employer. 24.14.2. Within four (4) months of the leave's end, the Member shall submit a written report outlining outcomes achieved and progress on the proposed research agenda.

If the teacher does not return to his/her teaching position for the required two (2) school years, he/she will reimburse to the District the amount received while on sabbatical leave plus the cost of the applicable fringe benefits. Exceptions to this provision include circumstances such as permanent disability or death, wherein neither the individual nor the heirs shall be obligated to refund any part of the amount paid while on sabbatical.
