SAFETY AND HEALTH MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE. (a) There shall be a statewide Safety and Health Maintenance Committee consisting of four (4) representatives selected by the VSEA and four (4) representatives selected by the State. The Committee shall select a Chairperson from among its members. Effective July 1, 2007, the chair of the Committee shall rotate annually between labor and management. The first one-year term shall ; (1) Development of general guidelines and procedures for use in the Agencies/Departments; (2) Assessment of Agency/Department safety practices, and programs, including any appropriate recommendations, and development of plans for changes or improvements in safety and working conditions. (3) Review of grievances and complaints in the safety/health area which are referred to the committee consistent with Section 4 of this Article. (4) Identification of safety training needs and the initiation of appropriate training efforts, which may include the solicitation of available grant funds.
