Section 9.5. Maternity Leave. Upon application therefore, the District shall grant maternity leave. Such leave shall commence at such 47 time as the employee, and her medical advisor, deem necessary. Employees granted maternity leave must 48 return to work not later than one (1) year following the granting of the maternity leave. Employees 1 granted maternity leave may, at their option, be allowed compensation for maternity leave in accordance 2 with Section 9.1.1 above. Before returning to work, the employee must be certified by her physician as 3 ready and able to return.
