Common use of Selection Committees Clause in Contracts

Selection Committees. Where a selection committee is established to fill vacant positions within the bargaining unit, the Union can appoint up to two (2) members of the selection committee. The purpose of the selection committee is to recommend to the Employer, which has the responsibility for the final hiring decision, an appropriate candidate or candidates for such positions. Appointments shall normally be made only after the selection committee has made a recommendation to the Employer. The members of the selection committee appointed by the Union will be released from their normal duties for meetings of the selection committee. They will not incur any loss of pay for attendance at such meetings.
