Selection of Status. Within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this language, any employee covered by this Agreement who is not a member of MSEA-SEIU shall be required to choose from the options of membership in MSEA-SEIU or exclusion from membership. Any employee thereafter who is or becomes covered by this Agreement shall be provided and required to choose from the above options within thirty (30) days after the first six (6) months of the beginning of each employee’s employment. A failure to choose membership shall constitute a choice of exclusion from membership. The State will deduct membership dues from the pay of any employee who chooses the option of membership in MSEA-SEIU by signing a written payroll deduction authorization form authorizing deduction from their pay of the membership dues, in accordance with the Dues Deduction Article.
