Shift Vacancies. Vacancies in shifts occurring after the posting of work schedules that are known at least one (1) week in advance will be posted.
Shift Vacancies. Establishment of new shifts or vacancies on shifts for custodial/maintenance personnel shall be posted for ten (10) days prior to appointment, except in cases of emergency.
Shift Vacancies. All vacancies in shifts which may occur during the year shall be filled in the same manner as the semi-annual transfer of shifts. Employees who are on special assignment which involves a change in shift shall not be automatically entitled to return to their prior shift where the assignment has lasted twelve (12) months or longer.

Shift Vacancies. Full-time job vacancies occurring after January 1 of the current year shall be filled based on the shift bids previously submitted for the current year and in consideration of the business needs of Snohomish County 911. Probationary employees shall be placed on the shift determined by Snohomish County 911 management to be best suited to the training goals established for that employee. Only regular full-time employees shall participate in the shift bid process, when it occurs. When a full-time vacancy is filled, subsequent shift vacancies will be filled through the same process as outlined in this section.
Shift Vacancies. Shifts that become vacant after the Schedule has been posted, but of which the Employer has notice at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the scheduled start time, will be distributed in the following manner:
(a) The Employer shall provide a list for employees to add their availability for possible shifts that may come available;
(b) Available shifts within a given classification will be offered to employees who hold a position within that classification who have listed themselves as available for the shift and who would not exceed the overtime threshold for the week as a result of accepting the shift in addition to the hours for which they are already on the schedule.
(c) If no employee accepts the shift, then the shift will be offered to employees who hold a position within that classification who have listed themselves as available for the shift in order of seniority regardless of whether accepting the shift would put them over the overtime threshold.
Shift Vacancies. Shift vacancies that occur during the year will be posted within ten (10) work days of the vacancy. Employees will be given ten (10) work days to sign up for the vacancy. The position will be awarded to the senior employee signing for the vacant position and the shift change will take effect within sixty (60) work days or when staffing levels allow. If no employee signs up for the vacancy and the vacancy must be filled for staffing purposes, the least senior, qualified employee shall be assigned to the vacant position.
Shift Vacancies. 20.1 A shift vacancy is one that occurs as a result of such situations as death, resignation, removal, reassignment, transfer, promotion, permanent disability or a modification in staffing patterns.
20.2 Shift vacancies or other positions offered shall be filled by the Fire Chief or designee based on individual training, experience and demonstrated capability with consideration of seniority. In the event of a Paramedic shift vacancy requiring special qualifications above the duties of a Firefighter/EMT, the Employer's shift vacancy posting shall list such special required qualifications.
20.3 Posting of shift vacancies shall be in each Fire Station for a period of ten (10) calendar days. Any employee desiring to bid for the shift vacancy shall submit his/her request in writing to the Fire Chief or designee prior to the end of the posting period. The Fire Chief or their designee shall contact by phone call (and voicemail message if the employee cannot be reached) any employee who is not scheduled to work during the ten (10) calendar day posting period to inform the employee of the shift opening. In the event the posting of a shift vacancy creates a second or more additional shift openings, the subsequent shift vacancies will be filled by Fire Administration and Union E-Board working together and contacting all members in-person or via a phone call (and voicemail message if the employee cannot be reached) to confirm their interest in the additional openings.
20.4 A long term absence will be defined as any employee who is injured and is not expected to be able to return to work for more than sixty (60) days. As soon as the Employer is made aware of such long-term absence, or the possibility of, the Union and the City will work together to try and reduce overtime exposure.
20.4.1.1 In the event a regular, full time captain is injured, a qualified acting captain will be temporarily promoted to captain. The temporary promotion will be according to their placement on the promotional list. If this temporary promotion requires the employee to move shifts, the Union and the City will bargain the impacts of that movement. In the event this leaves a shift without a qualified acting captain, those shifts may be filled according to article 16.2 (d). When the regular, full-time captain returns to duty, the temporary captain will return to their original shift at their original rate of pay.

Shift Vacancies. When a vacancy occurs within the patrol shifts, as a result of retirement, death, promotion or transfer, notice of the vacancy will be posted allowing officers an opportunity to request assignment to the vacant position, which will be filled based upon seniority, if the Superintendent decides to fill the vacancy. Notice of vacancy will be posted five days prior to filling of the vacancy, during which time the Superintendent may fill the vacancy on a temporary basis.
Shift Vacancies. 1. When there is a shift vacancy that the City intends to fill, the City shall notify all employees in the classification of the vacancy. Employees who desire to work that shift may express that preference to their supervisor. The most senior qualified employee will be assigned to that shift.
2. Nothing in this agreement limits the City’s ability to establish and/or modify shift times.
