Instructional Aides. The regular work year shall not exceed one hundred eighty-three (183) days.
Instructional Aides. A. The position of Instructional Aides in the school system shall continue for the duration of this agreement.
B. Instructional Aides working under twenty (20) hours will receive the following: ten (10) sick days and jury duty.
C. Instructional Aides working twenty (20) hours or more will receive the following: benefits, ten (10) sick days, four (4) family illness, three (3) personal days, one which is non-recreational.
Instructional Aides. The work year for Instructional Aides shall be the same as that of the teaching staff.
Instructional Aides. The workday for full time instructional aides shall be at least four and one-half (4½) hours per day, inclusive of at least a half-hour break.
Instructional Aides. There shall be one building aide at each elementary school (two at the Xxxxxx Devotion School).
Instructional Aides.
1. Sections 45340 through 45349, and 35021 of the Education Code dealing with instructional aides and volunteer aides are incorporated into this Agreement and shall be supplemented as follows:
(a) Instructional Aides
1) An instructional aide will not be assigned without such teacher’s consultation.
2) The duties to be performed by an instructional aide will be assigned by the supervising teacher with the approval of the site administrator.
3) A teacher who is supervising an instructional aide shall be responsible to evaluate and be empowered to recommend termination or reassignment of such aide if such teacher alleges that the aide is interfering with the teacher’s performance or is not performing services satisfactorily.
4) The district will make every available effort to secure a substitute aide who will be assigned to a special education class in the event an instructional aide supporting a special education class calls in sick or is absent for any reason.
Instructional Aides. All full-time instructional aides shall work a seven (7) hour day, inclusive of a forty-five minute lunch. The work year for instructional aides shall be the same as for teachers employed on a ten (10) month basis.
Instructional Aides. 1. Upon successful completion of a probationary period of at least 90 days, an instructional educational aide shall be considered tenured, meaning that the assistant shall be provided with the rights of this Agreement, including transfer and bumping.
2. Instructional Educational Aides Work Schedule
Instructional Aides. A. Aides will be furnished as follows:
a. All Begindergarten (BK) and Kindergarten classrooms will have a paid aide for the duration of each instructional session. Early Childhood Special Education classrooms will have a paid aide for the duration of each instructional session.
b. First and second grade classrooms will have 3 hours of aide support per day.
B. Assignment Conditions
a. Use of paid aides will be determined by the Board. When aides are assigned, their schedule will be worked out with the teacher and the building principal.
b. All aides shall receive proper orientation and instruction prior to implementation in the classroom setting. Proper general orientation will be provided by the principal and the teacher and consist of a minimum of one (1) hour of instruction. Pertinent areas to be considered are:
i. Duties and responsibilities.
ii. School procedures and schedules.
iii. Orientation to instructional and/or clerical materials.
iv. Use of aides consistent with District guidelines and Michigan Department of Education.
c. Upon assignment to a professional, the aide and professional shall be required to meet and discuss specific procedures utilized by the professional, prior to the aide commencing duties in any capacity. Follow-up conferences shall be held during each semester of the school year to discuss the use of aides, innovations, problems, etc.
d. If an aide is absent and the teacher requests it, a substitute will be provided, if available.
e. When there is an absence or shortage of a contractual aide, one can be moved to cover a legally required special education assignment if subs are not available. One aide cannot be moved more than twice per trimester.
f. The building principal will maintain a list of all TAs in the building. In the event that a contractually/legally required TA is removed from their classroom/role to act as a substitute teacher in another classroom in the building, the building administration will fill the vacant TA position first with a sub. If a sub is not available, the vacancy will be filled with the next available TA on the list in order to prevent a TA vacancy from consistently occurring in the same classroom/role.
Instructional Aides. Any instructional aides employed by the Board of Education as of September 1, 2007 or any other current employee of the Board, employed as of September 1, 2007 who obtains either a bachelors degree or associates degree in education shall be placed on the Aides Guide #6 at the step closest to, but not higher than the current step of the salary guide of that employee. For purposes of this paragraph, the closest, but higher step shall be determined by the dollar value of that step.
