Common use of Short and Long Term Disability Clause in Contracts

Short and Long Term Disability. For injuries or illnesses commencing after the execution of this contract, disability benefits shall be as follows (disability benefits for prior injuries or illnesses are covered in the parties' agreement in effect at the time of injury): (1.) Short Term Disability (Self-Insured): Maximum weekly sickness and accident benefits for non-duty connected disability will be sixty (60%) percent of average weekly earnings, not to exceed $650.00 per week, beginning on the 31st calendar day of disability and continuing for a maximum period of one year from the date of the sickness or accident, if the employee is otherwise qualified. Maximum weekly sickness and accident benefits for service- connected disability shall not exceed an aggregate figure of seventy (70%) percent of an employee's base wage, not to exceed $650.00 per week, including any Worker's Compensation benefits, beginning on the 31st calendar day of disability and continuing for a maximum period of one year from the date of sickness or accident, if the employee is otherwise qualified.
